52nd Annual Meeting of the Illinois Archaeological Survey

September 19-20, 2008
Edwardsville, Illinois

The 52nd Annual Meeting of the Illinois Archaeological Survey will be held in Edwardsville, Illinois from September 19-20, 2008. This year the meeting is being co-hosted by the Department of Anthropology, SIUE, and the Cahokia Mounds State Historic Site. The Friday activities will include an afternoon tour of the 2007 stabilization work conducted at Monk's Mound, a return to SIUE for the IAS business meeting in the early evening, and a reception with entertainment to conclude the day. Saturday's presentations will kickoff with summary reports by state and federal agencies regarding the respective agency's previous year's activities, followed by presentations on current research and more formal papers. Insofar as 2008 marks the anniversary of the WPA and the incredible amount of archaeology it conducted in Illinois, papers addressing its work are invited and encouraged. The evening will wrap with a diner and yet more entertainment. Fellows Julie Holt of SIUE and Mark Esarey of Cahokia Mounds are serving as co-chairs of the event. Specific questions can be directed to them.
