Communication is fundamental to the educational process. I have constructed this Web site in order to communicate with you. On this page we will talk about how you can communicate with me. I am building as much redundancy into your communication link to me as possible. I think that there will be the electronic pathway, plus the telephone and U.S. Post Office.
Let’s look at the electronic link. The link is identified in the area above. All you need do is click on the e-mail address to get your e-mail screen.
A NOTE OF CAUTION: The College maintains another email address for me: lstelle@parkland.edu. IT IS NOT RELIABLE FOR THIS KIND OF WORK. DO NOT USE IT. YOUR WORK IS GUARANTEED TO GET LOST.
And, of course, if all else fails you can stop by, write, or call me at:

NOTE FROM LEN: Maybe this peer to peer communication is not so important after all. Prentice-Hall has now taken this aspect of their site down because of lack of use. Hm-m-m....
So much for getting a hold of me. Now for the important stuff. Peer to peer/student communication. One element of my philosophy of education is that while I encourage participation in class room discussions, I never require students to talk in class. I never assign discussion grades. Moreover, I find that students enrolled in WEB based courses have even less time, energy, or inclination for conversation than students enrolled in classroom based courses. However, if you want to communicate with others we have two possibilities at our disposal both of which are available through the Macionis WEB site. The first is a message board. The second is a chat room for live discussions. Both forms of communication must be entered from the options bar on the left margin of the chapter screens. Please try these two technologies out and tell me what you think.
