GROUP INTERNET RESEARCH PROJECT
I. Groups of four will be chosen at random. II. Choose a topic that is related to: "CHEMICAL EDUCATION/TECHNOLOGY IN THE 21st CENTURY". Be innovative and creative in your choice. "DO NOT CHOOSE A BLAND UNINTERESTING TOPIC." The emphasis is on a future aspect of teaching chemistry using new technologies. You should begin by looking up the Journal of Chemical Education and T.H.E.(Technical Horizons in Education) on the Internet to explore for topics. The whole group must agree on one topic, phrase that topic into an appropriate title and have it approved before you begin. III. The title of the project should be cleary stated. Each person will write "250 WORDS" on some aspect of the topic (Suggested by not required aspects of the topic: Introduction, History, Body, Summary, Conclusion). At the end of your section, you should list your NAME, REFERENCE ARTICLES used for the research and how many words your section is (use word count)! IV. A "cooperative, innovative, creative" group effort is expected and required for the successful completion of this project. Fifty points will be earned by each person in the group. "EACH PERSON IN THE GROUP WILL RECEIVE THE SAME SCORE OUT OF 200 POINTS. V. This group research project will be characterized in the following ways: A. Sources 1. Journal of Chemical Education 2. Technical Horizons in Education (T.H.E.) 3. The InterNET 4. The Parkland College Library 5. The University of Illnois Chemistry Library B. Topic - Relating to Chemical Education/Technology in the 21st Century C. Time Frame 1. Assigned during week III 2. Lab time provided during week IV 3. Presentations during weeks VI & VII D. Interactive aspects 1. Each group will e-mail the assignment to me by Week V OR VI 2. One e-mail/group. Cut and paste sections into one e-mail. 3. The title must be clearly stated at the top of the page. After each section list name, one reference and the word count. E. Presentations 1. Each person must speak for a minimum of 3 minutes (no more than 5 minutes) 2. Presentations will be evaluated by fellow students. They will account for 50% of the total grade (100 points).
