New applicants may petition for membership by furnishing the IAS Membership Committee with three separate documents
b) a sponsor's letter written by a Fellow in the Illinois Archaeological Survey. The sponsor's
letter should state his/her knowledge of the applicant as well as the
contributions the applicant will make to Illinois archaeology.
c) a Curriculum Vita that is up to date with current address, institutional affiliation,
experience in Illinois archaeology, and publications. Petitions for
membership as a Fellow should be sent to the Chair of the Membership Committee.
Applications will be reviewed on a quarterly basis (January 1, April 1, July 1,
and October 1). Reviews of a
prospective member's qualifications for membership as a Fellow focus on the
following
Membership as an
Illinois Archaeological Survey Fellow will be determined in committee by a
unanimous vote. New members will be presented to the voting membership at the
annual IAS meeting. If a unanimous vote is not reached, the applicant and
his/her sponsor will be notified with reason(s) for rejection. The applicant may
appeal the decision of the committee vote to the membership present at the next
scheduled annual meeting. His/her application will be subject to review by the
Fellows in attendance where upon a vote of two-thirds of the Fellows will be
required for membership as a Fellow.

a) a personal letter written by the applicant stating why he/she desires to become a Fellow,
what his/her interest is in Illinois archaeology, and what are his/her areas of
interest.
a) whether the applicant is a professional archaeologist or has other suitable qualifications
and a bona fide interest in the purposes of the organization .
b) the applicant's adherence to the Illinois Archaeological Survey Professional
Standards.
c) sponsor's comments about the applicant.
d) information contained on the applicant's vita.
