Library
Research
Directions: In the appropriate conference on our class WebBoard
(YourGroup; Library Research), discuss your initial research for Project
1.
Pre-Exercise:
Begin your research for Project 1. I'm not going to mandate
how much you do or how much time you spend, but just remember: the more
you do before this exercise, the more your peers and I can help you
with.
Post:
In about 2 paragraphs (4-5 sentences each), discuss the following:
-
What topic have you chosen to research?
-
What research have you done thus far?
-
What catalogues have you looked in?
-
What research databases have you tried?
-
What web searches have you done?
-
What words have you used to search?
-
What directions in the topic have you pursued,
and what have you left or later or abandoned entirely?
-
What results are you finding?
-
What challenges are you encountering?
Response:
Respond to two of your group members' posts (if others have
posted already, try to respond to someone who hasn't gotten a response
yet).
-
Suggest avenues for further research.
Ask questions about the topic that they might investigate.
-
Suggest ways around the stumbling
blocks.
-
Suggest keywords for searches - heck,
do a couple of quick searches yourself.
