Homo habilis has a more primitive looking skull with a prognathic face, more pronounced brow ridges, and a much smaller brain than Homo rudolfensis. Homo habilis has teeth similar to later hominids as compared to Homo rudolfensis.
Homo habilis has a smaller body size, australopithecine-like limb proportions and adaptations of the feet for climbing.
Homo rudolfensis has a larger body, flatter face and a larger brain than Homo habilis. Homo rudolfensis has broader grinding teeth similar to Paranthropus.
Pelvic remains of both hominids show an almost modern form of bipedalism with few remaining ape characteristics.
