The purpose of this page is to highlight the research activities of Parkland's faculty. As a community college, most faculty do not engage in research, or focus on classroom research. However, there is a growing recognition that remaining current in the field may include research, particularly if students are involved.

Lenville Stelle, Professor of Anthropology and Sociology Research on archeaological sites in Illinois

"If by history we meaning the recording of events, then it first begins in August and September of 1730 at the siege of the Mesquakie Indians (Fox to the Anglos). Our archaeology program spent several seasons on this site. It is located between Saybrook and Arrowsmith (about 25 miles northwest of campus) in extreme eastern McLean County. Here raged the major conflict of the Second Mesquakie War, a war in which the French hoped to achieve the extermination of the Mesquakie Nation. With the killing of 500, the slaving of 300, and the “burning” of forty warriors, they almost succeeded."
